The Cognitive Dissonance of the Energy Transition | Ottawa, Monday April 22nd, 2024

This roundtable discussion will be led by CGAI Fellow Kevin Birn to consider how to overcome the cognitive dissonance of current thinking around the energy transition and identify pathways forward for Canada’s energy industry.

Kevin Birn is the Global Head of the Center of Emissions Excellence and Chief Analyst, Canadian Oil Markets at S&P Global Commodity Insights.

This roundtable discussion will be led by CGAI Fellows Kevin Birn and Rory Johnston will consider how to overcome the cognitive dissonance of current thinking around the energy transition, and identify pathways forward for Canada’s energy industry.

Kevin Birn is the Global Head of the Center of Emissions Excellence and Chief Analyst, Canadian Oil Markets at S&P Global Commodity Insights.
 
Rory Johnston is the Founder of Commodity Context and a Lecturer in the Master of Global Affairs Program at the University of Toronto Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.

This roundtable discussion will be led by University of Calgary Economist Kent Fellows to consider the economics of the Canadian oil sands in a more emissions constrained future.

Garrett Kent Fellows is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Calgary, the Graduate Program Director at the UofC Master of Public Policy Program, and a Fellow-in-Residence at the CD Howe Institute.
